Ubisoft have confirmed the name of the latest entry into the Assassin’s Creed franchise, with more details on ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ to be unveiled on Wedesday 15th May.
Whilst we have known some details about the next addition to the iconic franchise for well over six months, the name was one of the most elusive aspects of the game. However, with the formerly codenamed ‘Red’ getting an official title, fans have another clue of what to expect.
Unlike the last game of the series – Assassin’s Creed Mirage – Shadows is not a return to the roots of the franchise. Instead, this game looks to continue the open-world format that was first introduced back in 2017 with Assassin’s Creed Origins.
Though it has also been confirmed that this game is set in feudal Japan, other details have been kept under lock and key. However, the wait for more information won’t be too long, as the official world premiere trailer will be released this Wednesday.
Multiple rumours and leaks have implied that Shadows will follow two protagonists, a Shinobi and a Samurai, with players having the choice of which to control. On top of this, a slip-up in the Italian version of the trailer suggests the game will be released on November 15th of this year.
Finally, the game is being tipped as the maiden entry into Ubisoft’s new hub for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, known as ‘AC Infinity’. This will act as a portal for all future games, allowing fans to access the catalogue of games in one place.
