Despite various reports and rumours over the past week, Xbox have confirmed that the brand isn’t going anywhere.

On the 15th February 2024 episode of the Official Xbox Podcast, the head honchos at Xbox confirmed that four titles would be heading to other platforms. They also teased new games and hardware, as well as plans to integrate Activision Blizzard titles into Xbox Game Pass.

In the interview, Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, started proceedings by stating that four exclusive titles would be heading to other platforms over the coming months. This does align with rumours that suggested Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Theives were on their way to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, with Pentiment and Grounded being touted as the other titles to be going multi-platform.

That being said, he also debunked a lot of the rumours that suggested Xbox would become a fully-fledged third-party publisher, in a similar fashion to what Sega did in the 2000’s. He stated that any games published to multiple platforms would be titles that could be given a new lease of life, without being detrimental to the value of Xbox as a brand.

Once the out-of-hand rumours had been addressed, the team turned their attention to promoting future projects. Matt Booty reiterated that all futures titles would be available day one on Xbox Game Pass, with the platform remaining exclusive to PC and Xbox consoles.

The next big talking point was shared by Sarah Bond, who revealed that Activision Blizzard titles would be making their way onto Game Pass, with new releases being available at launch. The games will begin to roll out on Game Pass as early as next month, with Diablo IV coming to the service on March 28th.

Finally, the team offered plenty of hints suggesting that we’ll receive more information on new Xbox hardware this year. Whether this will be the same all-digital renditions from the leaked Xbox documents, the illusive ‘Project Keystone’, or something entirely new, is still yet to be determined.
