Supergiant Games have revealed that Hades II is set to release into early acess within a month, with gamers aready being able to get hands-on with this highly anticpated indie roguelike via technical testing.

During a livestream of the technical test from the developers, Studio Director Amir Rao and Creative Director Greg Kasavin offered those unfortunate enough to have yet gained access to the game – like me- a glmpse of what to expect from Melinoe’s voyage.

They also confirmed that testing for the sequel could take as little as one week to complete, and no longer than a month. As soon as they are happy that all major bugs and glitches have been identified and resolved, Hades II will then enter early access, giving everyone the chance to jump into the Greek underworld once again.

Hades II is taking a similar apporach to its predecessor, which saw a lot of benefits from the early access model. The maiden adventure into this iteration of Greek Mythology took the world by storm in 2020, and is considered one of the best Indie games ever.

By taking the time to gradually enhance the foundations of the game, as well as listen to feedback from fans during an early access period, Supergiant were able to forge a masterpeice. Because of this, other titles have taken a similar approach in recent years, with the likes of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Valheim being prime examples.

Whilst this does mean elements of the final game will be missing or reworked before the 1.0 version is released, current gameplay tutorials and feedback from fans suggests the current version is very polished and adapts on the foundations set by the previous title.

The original Hades follows Zagreus -son of Hades- as he tries to escape the underworld. However, Hades II puts the focus on his sister Melinoe, as she tries to save her father from the grasp of the titan Chronos.

For now, fans will have to wait for more updates in the near future, as Supergiant have already confirmed there will be at least one more wave of technical testing before the early access period.

If you can’t wait to get your hands on Hades II, you can sign up for technical testing on the official Steam page.
